  • We take pictures before cake. Mom and dad are welcome to pop in these pictures if you would like. We might do one clothing change before the cake smash outfit.

  • The cake is set on the floor infront of your baby. I always provide a plastic fork or knife to cut off small pieces for you to give your baby to try. Most babies don't understand what cake is and are often confused and want to run away from it.

    **Pro tip: go pick up a cupcake from the grocery store and start feeding little bits of it to your baby as often as you're comfortable. The more they familiarize themselves with cake the more they will enjoy it when we do the pictures.

  • a small, warm bath is set up for your baby after cake for your baby to splash in. This has always been every baby's favorite part! I'm not at all worried about water going all over the floor I am perfectly prepared for all parts of this session and want to make it run as smoothly as possible for you and your little one.

    Some families prefer not to do the bath and that's completely fine. I do also have wet wipes available if you would just prefer wiping baby down after cake.

  • 1) First and foremost this session is supposed to be fun. Little ones can't handle a lot of pictures back to back so we take many breaks. Be prepared for this. Bring snacks and/or drinks that your little one likes. I do also have water and a few snacks on hand. If you feel like nursing your baby, my studio is private and quiet and you are welcome to do that at any time. If you would like, I will even step out of the room to respect your privacy.

    2) It can be very overstimulating to have multiple people calling your baby's name at the same time. If mom and dad come together I suggest that one person help move baby around while the other person call baby's name. If it's just mom or dad then the parent and I work as a team for the best pictures. I have been doing this a long time and want to ensure a safe fun experience for you and your baby with gentle prompts for the best placement for baby to sit, stand, or lay down. I leave most of the handling of your baby to the parents. Little ones might have separation anxiety and not want to be held or touched by a stranger. I respectfully understand this and do my best to keep baby as happy as possible.
